Exhibit Features Photography by Sacramento Area College Students

From June 16 to July 28, Viewpoint will showcase the depth and breadth of education in the photographic arts that is available at colleges throughout the Sacramento region.

For this exhibit, colleges and universities of the Central Valley area were invited to submit a seven-print portfolio of student work. The nine institutions that elected to participate are American River College, Cosumnes River College, Modesto Junior College, Sacramento City College, Sacramento State, Sierra College, Solano Community College, University of the Pacific, and Yuba College. This exhibit is an opportunity for the community to view examples of work created in the schools’ various program offerings, which range from teaching photographic processes used in the 1800s to the latest in digital techniques.

In conjunction with the Student Exhibit, the colleges were invited to submit statements to Viewpoint’s board of directors stating how they would use a $500 grant in their photography programs. On July 8, at the Second Saturday reception for the exhibit, one or more grants of $500 will be awarded.
