First 2004 Show Features Paul Mohr & Mark Howell

Mark Howell and Paul Mohr will share the walls of the Viewpoint Gallery in the opening exhibit for 2004. The exhibit runs from Jan. 6 through Feb. 14, with a Second Saturday reception for the artists on Jan. 10, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Paul and Mark are both SVPAC members. Paul has been an active member since the early days of the organization, while Mark is a relative newcomer, having joined in 2002. Both work in traditional black-and-white, presenting a range of content with distinctive personal styles. A music teacher for 38 years, Paul has been photographing seriously for over 25 years, using cameras ranging from pinholes and Holgas to medium format and 4x5. With a background in literature and writing, Mark began to make photographs about 15 years ago, creating most of his work with a 4x5 view camera.

The work in this exhibit includes both recent and older images from both photographers. Paul's selections represent the breadth of his work, including two of his prominent interests: interiors and studio figure studies. Mark's selections come primarily from his landscape and abstract portfolios.
