This exhibit showcases Lewis Kemper’s “Mirror, Mirror” images. The prints in the series are digitally created mirror images that turn natural subjects into intriguing abstracts.

"Mirror, Mirror #26: Sand Dunes, Death Valley National Park"

Lewis Kemper has been photographing the natural beauty of North America and its parklands for over 25 years. After receiving a B.A. in Fine Art Photography from the George Washington University in 1976, Kemper moved to Yosemite National Park, where he lived for eleven years. From 1978 until 1980, he worked at The Ansel Adams Gallery, giving him the opportunity to meet, observe, and learn from some of the greatest photographers of our time. "The experience of working at The Ansel Adams Gallery was very influential in my development as a photographer,” he states.

"Mirror, Mirror #24: Abalone Shell"

Now based in Sacramento, Kemper travels extensively, and has visited 46 states from Alaska to Florida. He photographs in color using 35 mm and 4 x 5 cameras, and also works with digital imaging to create new work, printing his own archival pigment giclées.

"Mirror, Mirror #12: Wave, Northern Arizona"

Kemper's work has been exhibited and published in magazines, books, and calendars worldwide. His work is also represented by several stock photo agencies and is in numerous private and public collections. He teaches various aspects of photography for many organizations, and is currently a contributing editor to Outdoor Photographer and PC Photo, where his column “Outside/Inside” appears. His most recent book, Ancient Ancestors of the Southwest, was published in 1996 by Graphic Arts Center Publishing.
