Images by Richard Murai Reflect on World's Sacred Sites

Worlds Apart, an exhibit by SVPAC member and Yuba College instructor Richard Murai, opens February 20 at Viewpoint Gallery. The exhibit, featuring both recent and older images, will be on display through April 3, with a Second Saturday reception on March 13, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Murai's work focuses on sacred sites around the world, photographed on trips to India, Peru, Turkey, Egypt, Russia, Asia, and Western Europe. It has been featured in Lenswork and CameraArts magazines, and three of his images are available as Lenswork Special Edition prints.

Murai captures his images on medium-format film, then prints them using the most permanent digital process available that mimics traditional chemical imagery. Before the reception on March 13, at 3 p.m, he will discuss his technique in a presentation, "The How and Why of Going Digital."
