June 30 - August 11, 2000

Reception: 5:30-8:30 pm, Saturday, July 8, 2000

A monumental exhibit of eight exceptional dye transfer print artists organized by Gerry Storey.

The exhibit currently in our gallery consists of "dye transfer prints" from eight prominent photographers from the remaining approximately twelve photographers in the U.S. still doing fine art dye transfer color photographic images. The dye transfer process is unusually difficult; some of the materials needed are no longer commercially available; and so the process is becoming a lost art. The up side is that the results of the dye transfer process can be visually spectacular, and those in the exhibit may certainly be called as such. Sacramento and the Viewpoint Gallery are fortunate that Gerry Storey (who owns Cali-Color, a local Sacramento business) agreed to curate this group show of the work of seven of his dye-transfer colleagues and to include his own work in the show as well.

A special opportunity will occur on Second Saturday, July 8 when Gerry Storey will provide a demonstration of the dye transfer process at Viewpoint Gallery from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, preceding the reception which begins at 5:30 and ends at 8:30 PM.
