This exhibit features the work of a group of women artists named "Ten Eyes". In 1983, five Sacramento women photographers began meeting monthly to show and critique each other's work. Today, 20 years later, the group is still going strong. There are seven members now but they retain their original name: Ten Eyes.

Their collective artists' statement declares, “In 1983, drawn together by an interest in photography, five Sacramento women began meeting monthly to show and critique each other's work. Our goal was to grow as photographic artists, and to encourage the unique vision of each member. Originally five in number, hence the name Ten Eyes, the group has now expanded to seven, but we have retained the name."

“Our group is diverse in how we work and the materials we use. Some do black and white, some negative color, and some transparency color. We use 35mm cameras, 2¼-inch cameras, 4x5-inch cameras, SX70 cameras, and digital cameras. Some do their own film developing and printing, and others have it done by a lab. Some have moved into digital manipulation and printing and others have moved in that direction."

“As individuals, all members of the group have shown widely in solo shows, group shows, and juried competitions, both in Northern California and nationally. All have won awards and recognition for their work. This is the second time the members of Ten Eyes have had a show together. The first time was in November, 1998.”
