Artist's Statement

I began to explore art as a student at San Francisco State University in 1966, majoring in textiles with an emphasis on primitive and hand-constructed looms, and traditional dyeing techniques. In 1979 exhibited masks of mixed-media construction: plaster, found objects, beads, sequins and ribbons. 1980 was the beginning of a 17 year career in marketing, advertising and public relations. Artistic energies were channeled into the creation of advertising and other collateral materials for clients in both the private and public sectors. A desire to learn more about photography was pursued beginning in 1997 and the diversity of techniques which can be explored has made photography the medium I choose for creating fine art images.
